Maltese Rabbit Fenkata Stew on Glacial Stream

Earthenware bowl filled with rich brown rabbit stew and cloves of garlic sits directly on a mossy rock beside a rushing glacial stream. The meat chunks glisten with rendered fat under sharp, clear mountain light, against the white foam of the cold water. Dramatic grey clouds press low against the sky above, casting shifting shadows across the wet stones. Cool season air keeps the steam from rising far above the bowl before dissipating. The rough texture of the ceramic rim rests against smooth, water-worn slate. One clove of garlic floats near the edge of the stew, its papery skin catching the bright sunlight.
