Maltese Rabbit Stew Fenkata in Nevada Heat Haze

Copper-toned light washes over a heavy ceramic plate holding chunks of stewed rabbit meat and garlic cloves, resting directly on dry, sun-bleached earth. The dish sits at the immediate edge of a tall reed bed where midsummer heat creates a visible shimmering distortion in the air. Thick steam rises from the hot surface, blurring the background reeds into vertical gray-green strokes. The meat glistens with rendered fat and dark sauce, contrasting against the pale garlic skins. A shallow depth of field keeps the stew sharp while the reeds behind it waver in the thermal haze. one drop of sauce rests on the rim, catching the fading gold of the last light before nightfall.
