Laundromat Interior in Milan
by Russell Pham
Under the sodium glow of a Milanese night, a laundromat’s large glass window reflects the neon cross of a nearby pharmacy, casting a pinkish haze over the interior. Inside, a row of stainless steel dryers hums, their spinning loads illuminated by warm internal bulbs. On a folded counter near the entrance, a single blue shirt hanger rests beside a pair of rubber gloves and a crumpled receipt, evidence of a late-night wash. Outside, the wet pavement mirrors the chaotic mix of streetlights and signage, while a pedestrian in a bright yellow raincoat walks past, their reflection distorted in the glass. The mundane rhythm of urban life, where domestic chores intersect with the city’s electric pulse.
