Kitten in Knitted Hat Above Glacial Stream

Steel-blue ambient light fills the early evening, casting a cool tone over a tiny tabby kitten curled inside a rust-colored knitted hat. The hat rests on a rough-hewn wooden shelf positioned directly above a rushing glacial stream in South Dakota. Chunks of melting ice float in the water below, illuminated by the dim sky. Fine mist from the stream settles on the wood grain and the soft wool, creating a damp texture against the dry fibers. The kitten’s fur lies flattened against its body with eyes closed, while chaotic water flows beneath the stillness of the resting animal. A droplet of water beads on the rim of the wooden shelf edge, catching the faint blue light.
