Under the sodium-orange haze of a Nice night, a cramped kitchen corner reveals a stainless steel sink piled with utensil crocks and a porcelain jar, their surfaces reflecting the dim overhead bulb. The foreground is dominated by a worn wooden countertop scarred with deep knife marks, while the background fades into the dark, water-stained tile grout of the backsplash. A half-empty colander rests precariously on the edge, catching the spill of neon blue from a nearby street sign that bleeds through the open window. One raspberry has rolled off the counter and sits in a puddle of condensation, its red hue stark against the grey steel of the drain.
