Amber stage light spills across a microphone stand, illuminating the silhouette of a singer poised at the center of a dimly lit stage in Derby. Thick stage haze drifts through the air, catching the glow of the dawn light filtering in from outside. Behind the performer, heavy velvet curtains hang in deep folds, their texture softened by the misty atmosphere.
