Cool air hangs heavy in the dim Bulawayo jazz club as a pianist arches their back in a moment of intense musical release. Theatrical spotlights slice through the haze, illuminating the curve of their spine and the tension in their shoulders. Behind them, thick cables snake across the floorboards, tangled near heavy velvet curtains that frame the stage. The wood of the grand piano reflects the sharp beams of light, against the soft gray fog layered in the background. Shadows stretch long across the dark floor, showing the isolation of the performer under the bright, focused glow. A loose cable end rests against the piano leg, at the base of the dramatic pose in the gritty reality of the venue.
