Low morning light spills across the cobblestones of Gamla Stan, catching the wet sheen of a narrow alley where a municipal worker secures a heavy iron gate with a brass padlock. The lock’s tarnished surface reflects the pale blue sky, against the rough, moss-stained granite blocks of the building facade. In the background, the faint ripple of rainwater in a stone gutter mirrors the distant spire of a church, while a discarded paper cup rests near a drain grate.
