A wet cobblestone alley in Fez glistens under the soft, diffused light of early morning after a recent rain. Small rivulets of water trace dark paths between the irregular stones, reflecting the muted grey sky above. Along the base of a weathered stucco wall, a cluster of vibrant blue iris blossoms pushes through the damp earth, their petals heavy with droplets. The delicate flowers provide a sharp splash of color against the monochrome backdrop of the ancient, rain-slicked street.
