Wet Alleyway in Fez in in Fez, Morocco

Wet Alleyway in Fez

by Julian Vang

Dusk settles over a Fez alleyway, the sky a bruised purple bleeding into the warm glow of streetlamps reflecting on wet cobblestones. Rain slicks the narrow passage, turning the dust of the medina into a dark, glossy film. In the foreground, a local vendor’s cart sits abandoned for a moment, its wooden slats dark with moisture. Behind it, the arched entrance of a pottery workshop reveals shelves lined with terracotta bowls, their earthy red tones muted by the low light. One tiffin tin rests on the cart’s edge, condensation beading on its metal surface, catching the faint reflection of a passing lantern.
