Ikebana in Kanazawa Temple Courtyard Evening

Rich amber sunset light washes over a stone temple courtyard in Kanazawa, illuminating a minimalist ikebana arrangement of three distinct branches resting in a simple ceramic vase. The branches, stripped of leaves for early winter, display rough, textured bark against the smooth, glazed surface of the container. Dramatic clouds gather overhead, their undersides glowing with the same honeyed tones as the ground below. Moss rests on the weathered stone pavers, adding patches of deep green that contrast with the warm light. The composition stretches wide, showing the quiet dignity of the ritual object within the expansive, open-air space. A sharp shadow from the highest branch falls across the textured clay rim of the vase.
