Grooming Van Waterfall at First Light in in an outdoor boarding run in Nampula

Grooming Van Waterfall at First Light

by Ivan Yates

Cold silver dawn light floods the interior of a grooming van parked in an outdoor boarding run in Nampula. Stacks of white towels sit neatly on a metal counter, flanked by dryer holsters strapped above. Water tank gauges on the wall reflect the heavy overcast sky outside. A surreal waterfall pours violently from a jagged crack in the back wall, defying all plumbing logic. The water cascades onto the floor, mixing with the concrete dust of the turn of seasons. The scene remains still and professional despite the impossible deluge. One droplet hangs from the edge of a towel rack, suspended in the silver air.
