Grilled Fish on Banana Leaf at Night

Charred skin glistens with oil under the faint glow of ground lights, resting atop a large, veined banana leaf. The fish lies on a rough wooden table, its surface scarred by years of use and weather. Dark shadows pool around the edges of the frame while the dry season air hangs still. Small specks of charcoal rest on the leaf's ridges, against the pale, flaky meat exposed where the flesh has been pulled apart. The starlight above offers no direct illumination, leaving the meal to stand out against the deep black of the night. one drop of juice rests on the wood grain near the tail.
