Under the dim starlight, faint ground glow softens the edges of the fish scales, highlighting their oily sheen and dry, textured skin. Sea haze blankets the horizon line behind the table, blurring the distant Auckland landscape into a muted gray wash. The dry season air leaves the surface of the table dust-free but worn. Negative space frames the food on all sides, isolating the stacks against the dark night. A small patch of light catches the tip of a fish tail, revealing a sharp, clean cut edge.
