Gothic Cathedral Facade in Garoua Prayer Corridor

by Marta Glenn

Cool, pre-dawn light falls through high windows to illuminate the stone facade of a Gothic cathedral standing inside a prayer wheel corridor in Garoua. The symmetrical arrangement features pointed arches and intricate tracery carved directly into the masonry. Moisture from the rainy season coats the nearby stone surfaces, creating soft, blurred reflections that mirror the architectural details. The gray tones of the wet stone contrast with the pale, diffuse glow entering from above. Heavy, dark shadows pool in the recessed arches while the central rose window remains faintly visible against the dim background. A wet stone pillar in the foreground catches a sharp edge of light, at the base of the structure in the quiet, damp air of the early morning.
