Gilded Onion Dome in Winter Night Atrium
Deep indigo clouds press low against the vaulted ceiling of the atrium in Mayarí, where cool winter air settles without movement. A Russian Orthodox church onion dome, its surface clad in shimmering gold leaf, glows warmly within the space. Low tungsten light falls through narrow windows, casting amber reflections that dance across the dome's curved ridges and the stone walls surrounding it. The architecture creates strong converging lines that draw toward the vanishing point beneath the gilded structure. Shadows stretch long and soft across the floor, while the gold surface catches the faintest highlights, creating a playful contrast between the heavy night sky and the luminous metal. The texture of the gold leaf appears slightly uneven, revealing the handcrafted nature of the dome against the smooth stone arches.
