Midday light reflects intensely off the wet glass of shopfronts lining a narrow market street in Mangalore. Blurred figures of commuters traverse the crosswalk, their forms stretched into translucent streaks by a long exposure. Heat shimmers rise visibly from the hot pavement, distorting the lower edges of the scene. Colorful market goods sit on stalls to the side, static against the motion of the people. The wet asphalt mirrors the bright sky and the vertical lines of the buildings. A reflection of a red awning stretches across the slick ground near the feet of the moving crowd.
