Warm amber light spills from a glass display case onto the wet pavement outside a storefront in Ramat Gan. Rows of stainless steel wells hold scoops of pistachio, chocolate, and creamy vanilla, their surfaces glistening with a thin layer of condensation. Raindrops rest on the exterior of the window, blurring the streetlights into soft, elongated streaks of white and orange. The glass reflects the deepening blue of the twilight sky, creating a double image where the cool evening air meets the inviting warmth of the sweets. A wooden scoop rests on the rim of a container, while condensation beads drip slowly down the clear pane, marking the humid air that hangs heavy after the recent shower. The display stands orderly, a bright rectangle of color against the darkening urban street.
