Furnace Stoker Face Lit by Coal Glow

Soot-streaked skin glows with an intense orange hue cast directly from the furnace heat below. The subject fills the frame, their eyes reflecting the burning coals that serve as the sole light source against the deepening twilight. Faint wisps of smoke drift past a face marked by the labor of the turn of seasons. Outside the immediate circle of firelight, the background fades into the blue-grey of evening in Thrissur. Leaves skitter across the ground, caught in sudden gusts that ripple the air. The texture of the skin contrasts sharply with the smooth, dark metal of the furnace rim. A reflection of the fire dances in the corner of the eye, marking the boundary between the worker and the darkening room.
