Deep shadow blankets the lake surface near Kuanzhai Alley, where frost crystals coat every blade of grass and stone along the ridge. Thin rim light traces the distant layered foothills, revealing the cool gray of monsoon-dampened earth. The water holds a subtle moire pattern, a visual interference of ripples caught in the pre-dawn stillness. White frost rests on the foreground vegetation, creating a textured edge against the dark water. The composition remains minimal, focusing on the contrast between the icy ground and the rippled, dark lake. A sharp line of frost on a single reed marks the boundary between the solid earth and the fluid water.
