A cluster of rough, earthy turnips rests on the weathered wooden counter of a small bakery in Amman during the winter noon. The bright, diffuse light from the open doorway highlights the deep purple skins and the coarse texture of the root vegetables. Behind the produce, a stack of flatbread sits on a wire rack, adding context to the local food setting. One, sharp root tip points downward, at the base of the composition in the immediate micro-setting of the shop.
