Arranging Turnips in Muscat

Under a flat, diffuse overcast sky, a narrow Muscat alleyway reveals a local shopkeeper arranging fresh produce on low folding tables near a stone wall. A white wash basin sits on the ground nearby, filled with water for rinsing turnips that are piled loosely in a heap. A ceramic plate rests on the edge of the table, holding a few scattered items, while a dish towel hangs from a hook, slightly stained from use. A candid moment of daily commerce, with the soft light showing the textures of the rough masonry and the smooth, wet vegetables.
