Forbidden City Gate in Jhang Train Terminal

by Brenda Arnold

Deep shadows cloak the interior of the restored train terminal in Jhang, where a massive Forbidden City gate stands against the dim blue hour light. The structure features traditional glazed tile roofing in faded crimson and gold, against the heavy monsoon clouds visible through the terminal's high windows. Red walls rise vertically, their painted surfaces showing signs of age and weathering. A thin rim of cool light traces the upper edges of the archway, separating the dark silhouette from the overcast sky. The wide panoramic view shows the scale of the gate within the vast, empty space of the station. Heavy rain streaks across the glass panes above, blurring the horizon line. The bottom edge of the gate rests on a wet stone plinth reflecting the faint ambient glow.
