Drawbridge Deck Lacquered With Rain And River Light In New Orleans Midday

The heavy steel deck of the Crescent City Connection stretches across the Mississippi River under a heavy overcast sky at midday. Rain slicks the iron surface, creating a glossy sheen that reflects the dull gray light and the brown, churning current below. A white drawbridge pier cutwater splits the flood-brown current, sending spray into the air near the base of the structure. Water droplets rest on the chain-link fence lining the walkway, distorting the view of the industrial warehouses on the far bank. The raw texture of the infrastructure, showing the wet metal and the powerful river flow without any human presence, focusing entirely on the architectural and natural elements of the crossing.
