Warm golden light spills across the concrete pavement of a shopping cart corral in Albuquerque, highlighting the dry, dusty ground of the season. A metal restock cart sits beside the row of nested carts, its surface reflecting the low sun. Tactile packaging with crinkled textures and plastic fixtures rests on the cart's shelf, sharp and detailed against the blurred background. Thick, heavy smoke does not rise but pours downward like a viscous dark liquid, pooling around the cart's wheels and coating the lower metal bars. The steam moves with the weight of water, dripping from the cart's handle in slow, heavy ribbons that distort the air below. One droplet of the dark fluid rests on the edge of a plastic crate.
