A narrow alleyway in Seoul’s Jongno district glows with the cool, blue-grey light of early morning, where a small traditional hanok shop has just begun its day. The owner, wrapped in a thick wool coat, carefully places a woven straw door mat on the wet concrete steps, smoothing out the edges with worn leather gloves. Beside the entrance, a small ceramic fruit bowl holds a few glossy persimmons, their orange skins reflecting the soft ambient light from the streetlamp above.
