Heavy overcast skies press low above a late autumn courtyard in Wuhan, where the sun drops toward the horizon. Orange low-angle light breaks through the gray clouds, washing the scene in a fragile, quiet glow. A dog lies stretched out on rough gray flagstone tiles beside a traditional brick hearth. The animal's fur catches the warm edge of the sunset, against the cool tones of the stone and the muted browns of the surrounding earth. The brickwork of the hearth shows signs of weathering, while fallen leaves scatter across the ground. The dog's head rests on its paws, aligned along the right third of the view, showing the stillness of the moment. Shadows stretch long and soft across the uneven surface of the flagstones.
