Rain-slicked Salamanca Place pavement reflects the grey overcast sky, framing a cluster of weathered sandstone buildings with steep slate roofs. A local tradesman in a high-vis vest leans against a timber-framed window, adjusting a leather tool apron stained with grease and lime. Beside him, a brown dog sits patiently on the wet stone, watching passersby in bright umbrellas. The scene is busy with the texture of damp wool, rough masonry, and the sheen of wet asphalt. A faded poster peels from a brick pillar, adding a splash of peeling yellow to the muted coastal palette. The light is flat and diffuse, softening shadows but highlighting the grit on the boots and the intricate weave of the apron straps.
