Warm late afternoon light floods the open-air workshop of a boat builder in Sydney’s inner west, illuminating a cluttered workbench where a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel rests its chin on a stack of sun-bleached canvas tarps. The dog’s ruby and white fur catches the golden hour glow, against the rough, salt-stained timber of the bench. Nearby, a jade-green ceramic mug tree holds drying cups, while a bone folder and a small mallet lie abandoned beside a half-finished hull section.
