Dia de Muertos Altar Aberdeen Midnight Marigolds
Bright orange marigolds cover the tiers of a wooden altar standing in a wet Aberdeen public square at midnight. A sweeping beam from a lighthouse cuts through the light drizzle, striking the flower petals and creating sharp highlights against the damp grey pavement. Three levels of the structure hold framed black-and-white photographs, steady candle flames shielded by clear covers, and sugar skulls wrapped in cellophane. The beam moves across the scene, illuminating the rough wood grain on the lower shelf while the upper tiers remain partially in shadow. Droplets of water rest on the edges of the wooden slats and the cellophane wrapping. The light arc passes the right side of the altar, leaving the left edge in darkness before the beam ends on a wet stone corner.
