Dewdrop on Pine Needle Amid Jungle Vines
by Raul Evans
One dewdrop hangs precariously from the sharp tip of a slender pine needle, its surface acting as a distorted mirror. Behind this microscopic subject, thick, vibrant green jungle vines have aggressively overgrown half the woven linen background, their broad leaves and coiling tendrils resting directly against the fabric's coarse texture. Late afternoon light falls through sheer curtains, casting soft, diffused beams that catch the polished curve of the water droplet and the glossy sheen on the impossible foliage. The linen fibers stretch across the frame, their neutral beige tones against the lush, alien greenery. Negative space surrounds the cluster, isolating the pine needle and the invading vines in a quiet, suspended moment. A tiny highlight reflects on the lower rim of the dewdrop where it meets the needle's tip.
