Dewdrop on Mushroom Cap in Predawn Naples

Soft tungsten light illuminates a solitary dewdrop perched on the curved lip of a mushroom cap. The drop acts as a miniature lens, refracting the warm glow and capturing a tiny, inverted reflection of the room. Frost crystals line the edge of a nearby windowpane, their jagged white edges against the dark, predawn glass. The mushroom stem rests on a surface where muted reflections from the lamp pool across the floor. Dry season air leaves the surrounding air crisp and clear. The droplet remains perfectly spherical, held by surface tension against the organic texture of the cap. A faint shadow falls beneath the mushroom, grounding it against the dim interior.
