Derelict Gold Dredge in Autumn Courtyard

Rusted iron plates of a massive gold dredge lie stranded on cracked mud within a courtyard overtaken by late autumn grasses. The machine's heavy steel teeth and corroded buckets rest against weathered stone walls, their surfaces pitted with orange decay. Tall, dry stalks of grass push through the gravel, swaying slightly in the damp air trapped among the stones. Bright open daylight floods the space, yet every shadow extends backward toward the sun, defying the laws of physics. The impossible shadows stretch across the metal and the grass, pointing directly at the light source. A final crack in the dried river bed holds a small pool of water reflecting the inverted darkness.
