Steam rises in thick, white plumes from the scraped concrete floor of a winter dairy holding pen, meeting the heavy overcast sky of a Canadian dawn. Low sunlight strikes the horizon haze, casting a pale, diffused glow across the weathered metal gates and ear-tagged cattle standing in the feedlot lane. Two teat-dip buckets sit near the animals, their surfaces dull against the grey morning. The low angle view emphasizes the scale of the infrastructure balancing with the land.
