Dawn Frost Over Bicycles and Factory Tower
by Jordan Hays
Soft overcast light washes the early spring morning in Şanlıurfa, turning the ground into a sheet of white frost. A cluster of bicycles rests in a row, their frames and tires coated in a fine, crystalline layer. Behind them, a tall brick factory whistle tower rises against a pale gray sky, its surface textured with age and soot. The metal handlebars of the bikes glint dully in the diffused dawn, reflecting the muted sky. Frost rests on the spokes and the rubber tires, creating a delicate white outline against the dark metal. The brickwork of the tower shows deep mortar lines, weathered by time. A shadow stretches long across the frosted pavement, marking the low angle of the sun just beginning to rise. The frost on the lowest bicycle pedal catches the faint light, standing out against the gray ground.
