Curved Museum Facade by Canal at Night

by Finn Mills

A sweeping parametric curve of concrete dominates the view, rising vertically beside the dark, glassy water of the Phnom Penh canal. One beam of white light sweeps across the textured surface, illuminating the rhythmic, repeating geometric patterns carved into the wall. Raindrops bead heavily on the smooth gray stone, catching the sudden flash of illumination before sliding down into the wet pavement below. The sky above is a deep, clear indigo, against the artificial glow that cuts through the humid night air. Shadows stretch long across the canal edge, showing the vast, empty scale of the structure against the quiet water. The light beam ends abruptly, leaving the lower foundation in deep, impenetrable blackness.
