Construction Cover Stack Before Dusk in Higüey

Copper-toned light washes over a muddy site access road in Higüey, illuminating a stack of floor-penetration covers resting on wet, churned earth. The dry season leaves the surrounding ground dusty and cracked between puddles. Faint firelight warmth glows from the side, casting long, amber shadows across the metal surfaces. Site administration documents and safety markers stand visible through the gaps in the stacked objects, their edges fluttering slightly where the wind pushes against nearby tarps and yellow caution tape. Leading lines formed by tire tracks and the linear arrangement of the covers guide the eye straight toward the stack. at the edge is a reflection of the fading sky shimmering on the wet rim of the lowest cover.
