Blue hour settles over the Liouying district as rain begins to fall, turning the asphalt into a dark mirror reflecting the neon glow of a nearby convenience store. Under the corrugated metal awning of a small eatery, a cluster of damp raincoats hangs from hooks, their bright yellow and red colors against the gray twilight. A wire mesh colander rests upside down on a wet concrete ledge, catching the scattered light from a streetlamp above. In the background, the silhouette of a ferry terminal pierces the mist, while a solitary umbrella stand holds a few closed umbrellas, their fabric beaded with moisture.
