Clockmaker Adjusting Gears in Wet Season Light

Rich amber sunset light floods a workshop near Kismayo, illuminating the intricate brass gears of a clock held by a focused artisan. The worker sits at the edge of the frame, hands steady under the magnification of a jeweler's loupe, adjusting tiny components with a slender tool. Outside the open doorway, ground fog pools in low places, dampened by the wet season, creating a soft white layer against the darkening earth. The interior walls show signs of wear, painted in faded ochre that reflects the warm glow. Dust motes hang suspended in the amber beams, settling slowly on the wooden workbench. One gear tooth catches the light, gleaming sharply against the shadowed palm of the hand.
