Clock Gears Reflection in Casablanca Atrium Water

by Richard Acevedo

Pale limestone walls curve overhead in a vaulted atrium, their surfaces catching soft, diffuse light from the late morning sky. Below, a shallow pool of water holds a double exposure effect where brass clock gears appear superimposed over the liquid surface. The metallic teeth of the gears reflect faintly against the ripples, creating a rhythmic geometric pattern that mimics the flow of the water. In the corners where the walls meet the floor, a warm lamplight settles, casting soft shadows against the cool stone. The early winter air is silent, yet the visual weight of the machinery contrasts with the fluidity of the pool. A sharp edge of a gear tooth aligns perfectly with a distortion in the water's surface tension.
