Hard coastal glare slices across a massive granite overhang jutting from a weathered harbor quay near Banff. A rock climber in early winter gear hangs suspended, one hand gripping a textured hold while the other maneuvers a carabiner into a steel bolt. Fine droplets of a light drizzle glisten on the dark, wet rock surface, turning the stone into a slick, dark mirror.
