Chipped White Enamel Pitcher in Havana
by Linda Harris
A chipped white enamel pitcher sits on a sun-baked concrete ledge in Old Havana, its surface reflecting the bright winter noon light. The pitcher holds a few sprigs of dried lavender, their brittle stems casting sharp, thin shadows against the peeling blue paint of the wall behind. To the right, a small terracotta pot contains a struggling geranium, its green leaves against the dusty, weathered texture of the surrounding stucco. One drop of condensation rests on the rim of the pitcher, catching the harsh sunlight and gleaming like a tiny diamond.
