Chinese Calligraphy Demonstration Holguin Hall

Soft, diffused afternoon light falls through the high windows of a ceremonial hall in Holguin, illuminating a figure holding an oversized brush with a long bamboo handle. The giant brush tip, soaked in black ink, hovers just above a wide sheet of white rice paper laid on a low wooden table. Outside, wet-season clouds hang low and grey, casting a muted glow that reflects off the damp stone floor. The calligrapher wears a dark, loose-fitting tunic, their posture focused and still. Fine droplets of ink rest on the bristles, waiting to touch the paper. One dark drop hangs from the very tip of the brush, suspended in the quiet air.
