Calligrapher Writing in Kozhikode Library Evening

Honeyed evening light streams through high windows into a library reading room in Kozhikode, settling on a dark wooden desk. An elderly calligrapher sits with weather-beaten hands holding a traditional reed pen, dipping it into a shallow inkwell. Warm candlelight glows from a brass lamp placed beside the desk, casting muted reflections along the polished floorboards. Stacks of old books line the walls, their spines worn and faded. The calligrapher's robe, stained with ink, drapes over the chair. Negative space surrounds the figure, showing the solitude. A drop of ink rests on the paper's edge, forming a perfect black circle.
