Painter Whitewashing Wall in Xian Square

Indigo twilight settles over a public square in Xian, where a worker stands on a wooden scaffold against a tall, textured wall. Strings of warm white bulbs hang overhead, casting a soft, golden glow that illuminates the thick white paint being applied to the dark surface. The worker wears a heavy, dark coat and a simple cap, their arm raised in a steady, rhythmic motion. Bare branches of nearby trees reach into the clear, star-dusted sky, their thin silhouettes stark against the deep blue expanse. The square floor reflects the string lights in elongated streaks, while the fresh white paint on the wall appears matte and slightly uneven. A shadow from the scaffold falls sharply across the lower section of the wall, marking the boundary between the illuminated work area and the encroaching night.
