A street vendor in a narrow CDMX alley balances a stack of chipped white serving bowls on his shoulder, the porcelain showing hairline crazing from years of hot water. Beside him, a child in a faded jersey reaches for a paper cup filled with icy chamoy-covered fruit, juice dripping onto a plastic table. The scene is lit by harsh winter noon sun, casting sharp shadows against a wall of peeling lime-green paint. A frayed rope hangs loosely from a balcony above, tangled with a discarded plastic bag. The vendor’s apron is stained with red chili powder, against the bright blue tarp sheltering his cart. Nearby, a sketchbook lies open on a bench, ignored by the bustling foot traffic.
