Rain streaks the grimy window of a cramped Budapest newsstand, blurring the neon glow of a nearby tram line into smeared ribbons of blue and red. Inside, the damp air clings to shelves stacked with local newspapers and tobacco. A vendor’s hand, gloved in thin plastic, reaches for a ceramic mug resting on a condensation-slicked counter, its white glaze contrasting sharply with the dark, water-darkened grout of the tiled wall behind it. Glass tumblers sit inverted in a rack, catching the dull, overcast light filtering through the storm.
