Serving Coffee in Budapest

Under the harsh sodium glow of a Budapest streetlamp, a street vendor tends to a steaming coffee cart parked near the Danube embankment. The scene is anchored by two chipped ceramic mugs resting on a grease-stained metal tray, their steam catching the mixed light from nearby neon signs and amber lamps. A lone patron in a heavy winter coat stands close, hands tucked into pockets, waiting for the dark roast to brew. Behind them, the blurred lights of passing trams create streaks of white and red across the wet pavement, while the vendor’s gloved hands move with practiced efficiency over the grinder. The composition shows the transient warmth of the stall against the cold, damp night air.
