Broken Parking Meter Rain Curb Lalitpur
by August Fry
Grey clouds weigh low over the wet asphalt of a tram stop in Lalitpur, casting a diffuse, flat light across the winter street. A rusted parking meter stands tilted on the curb, its metal casing pitted and peeling from years of exposure. Rain beads on the cracked glass face, blurring the faded numbers inside. Beside the meter, a puddle reflects the heavy sky and the dark silhouette of a tram shelter roof. The concrete curb is slick, showing the texture of worn stone beneath the water. In the background, the blurred shapes of brick buildings and a hanging sign hint at the city's density. one drop of water slides down the side of the meter, leaving a clean streak on the grime. The cold air is visible in the sharpness of the wet surfaces and the stillness of the puddle.
