Bridle on Sawmill Cart in Ibadan Work Shed

Soft tungsten light pools across a rough wooden workbench, illuminating a leather bridle resting atop a weathered sawmill cart. The dry season air has left the leather stiff and pale, its surface etched with fine cracks and deep grooves from years of use. Shadows stretch long and soft from the single overhead bulb, pooling in the crevices of the cart's metal frame and the bench's uneven grain. Rusty bolts and worn straps lie scattered nearby, evidence of recent maintenance. The predawn darkness presses against the edges of the room, leaving only this small circle of warm illumination to reveal the textures of the work. A frayed leather strap hangs loosely from a hook, its end resting against a rusted nail head.
